Hi, my name is Melanie Hughes. I am a mother of two wonderful girls who are currently 4 and 6, and an infant boy. After several years in the workforce I have decided to spend some time home with my girls and welcome a few daycare freinds to come over to share and learn with us! I have been running my daycare for over a year now, and plan on continuing for several years! I offer flexible hours and low rates, having been a working mom for several years I understand the challenges of finding daycare especially if you don't work 9-5. I am willing to accomodate your hours, inculding shift workers, days, evenings, weekends, and overnight care! Extended hours can be arrainged! Service avaliable in French or English
Healthy meals and snacks provided. Meals include all 4 food groups and snacks include at least two food groups. Willing to accomote parent and child's preferences as well an allergy aware environment. Meal plans posted, and copies are avalible to parents on request.
Hours: Days 7:00am to 5:30pm
Evenings past 5:30pm
Overnight past 10pm
Early morning Drop off before 7am
Daily Outdoor time
Quiet/nap time daily(I provide the playpen, mat or other area and blankets)
Weekly trips to playgroup and local parks(all with-in walking distance)
Occasional trips to the library, YMCA, Playtrium, local museums, etc. At lest 24 hours notice is given, including estimated times and travel arraingements. I rarely take daycare children in my vehicle, due to lack of seating... Generally we walk or take the bus.
Baking/cooking, science, circle time, music and dancing, reading, writing practise, dramatic play, playdoe, arts, and crafts! All geared to the age and stage of the child and preferances of the parent(s)
We celebrate birthdays and holidays!
Non-smoking home and yard(I am a non-smoker)
No Pets
Breastfeeding freindly daycare(I breastfeed my own girls and I encourage you to do the same if you choose)
Cloth diapers welcome(NO CHEMICALS)
I perfer there is no TV during the day. Occasionally we watch it during nap time.
I follow the daycare and day nursery act's guidlines reqarding numbers of childrens and ages.

- Current Public service French language Profile AAA
- OEYC workshops on various childcare/parenting topics, including infant, preschooler and toddler nutrition, sibling rivalry, intensce emotions, and dealing with spirited children
- Enhancing Language development in childhood course
- Liscened through WeeWatch and subsidy is avaliable
- Monthly unannounced visits to ensure I am doning a good job with the children. Plus unannounced visits from the liscensing authority to ensure high standards are maintained.
