There were books galore, celebrity readers and wide-eyed children pouring over books and playing reading games as the community came together to celebrate Family Literacy Day on January 27 at Devonshire Mall. Created by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999, the annual celebration of reading and literacy has taken off in childcare centres, Ontario Early Years Centres, libraries and schools to raise awareness of the importance of early literacy activities for young children.
