Hi I recently stepped down from my full time job, to part time to be with my family more but now the finances are tight. i was thinking about starting my own child care from my home but i dont know where to begin.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

This is a great opportunity to explore! I'm sure you'll receive some great responses from current caregivers. Can't wait to hear from everyone! This link explains Ontario's home childcare regulations: http://db.tt/NwZyc7d7

Best wishes!

If you are new, consider going through an agency who can help you set up, loan equipment needed, offer encouragement and support, as well as a program to do with the kids.  They FIND parents FOR you and set up the INTEVEIWS.  It increases your credablilty as a NEW provider. Thye can also offer subsidy to parents and ensure you are PAID properly should you work evenings weekends etc.  Plus it can be a PAIN dealing with payment issues...

I work with weewatch and it is easy to set up...and gives you some extra money.  Playgroups, library etc can make it easier to find things to do without creating a lot of extra work...
